PLYMOUTH AVENUE ART STUDIO TO CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH THROUGH THE CREATIVE ARTS ON FEBRUARY 18TH, 2011

The Plymouth Avenue Art Studio will have its first annual Black History Month celebration this month. The program will include presentations by African American professionals who have made their mark in the education, publishing and performing arts fields as well as theatrical and dance performances by local children. Art work created by young people will also be showcased, including an installation piece called “Dream Sticks” which incorporates themes from Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
The program will take place on Friday, February 18th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Plymouth Avenue Art Studio located at 2404 Plymouth Avenue North. We invite everyone to join us as we celebrate black history and the arts on the north side of Minneapolis. Free event.

  1. A few weeks ago, I was taking a walk by your studio and was completely inspired by your “Dream Sticks” installation. I came back later and took some photos. Thought you might like to see them. Thanks for brightening up my walk.

    • Thank you so much for the lovely review. The children worked so hard on making their Dream Sticks. The Dream Sticks represent their dreams for making their neighborhood and world a better place. Each Dream Stick also acts as a literal and figurative bird feeder whose goal is to captivate and nourish anyone or anything. I feel as if that has already happened. Thank You!
